HEART ATTACK

A heart attack at a small roof fire yesterday ended a thirty-two year career in the Fire Department for Capt. James W. Byrne, of 967 Church Street.

Byrnes collapsed emerging from a blaze at 70 Bartlett Street early yesterday afternoon and was dead on arrival at Central Emergency Hospital. He was in charge of engine company thirteen. Surviving is his widow, Mary; a son, James; and a sister, Mrs. Sadie Peterson of San Francisco.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning from Duggan’s, 3434 Seventeenth Street, to St. James Church where a requiem mass will be sung. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
