Virginia City, NV - Firemen's Muster
August 15-16, 2009

One of the highlights of the Virginia City weekend was re-visiting the Silver Terrance Boot Hill grave site of San Francisco fireman, William Mullen.  For the complete story of how he came to be buried in the Virginia City, click here.

Competition Results

The SFFD Historical Society's muster team, the San Francisco Guardians, entered two of the competitive events and came away with a 1st and a 2nd place win.

The Museum's circa 1820 Protection engine, in her first competition after the restoration of the pump, beat two newer Hunneman engines in the Class IIA hand engine event with a winning time of 27:23 seconds.  Taking 2nd place was Warren Engine Company from the Carson City Volunteer Fire Department and their 1847 Hunneman with a time of 52:81 seconds.  In 3rd place was the 1864 Hunneman from the Upper Lake Volunteer Fire Department with a time of 1.45:51.

The SFFD Guardians Team also won 2nd Place in the over 40 open hose cart competition with a time of 39:40 seconds.  The Spreckels Volunteer Fire Department was first with a time of 35:30 seconds. It was the first time that the Guardian team ran in this competition.
